DXI was chosen to provide the site work on several projects spanning five years for the Salisbury/Wicomico Airport. Beginning in 2012 on the active, operating airport, DXI Construction moved and placed 23,000 tons of aggregate base and 7,000 tons of asphalt. The completed project included grading and drainage improvements, electrical packages, signage striping and lights.
In 2014, DXI returned for another project at the active airport. We completed 70,000 square yards of asphalt demo and 57,000 square yards of soil cement, plus we moved and placed 27,000 tons of aggregate base and 22,000 tons of asphalt paving.
Our third project with the airport began in 2017. The Taxiway B Rehabilitation project included placing 1,600 tons of aggregate base and 3,000 tons of asphalt paving.
These projects, as with similar airport projects, come with a multitude of challenges. From careful coordination of work and scheduling to keep the active airports operational for the duration of construction to special safety and equipment requirements, DXI met these challenges to complete the projects on time and within budget.
